Where the beautiful Siuslaw River crosses the great sand dunes and meets the crisp, blue Florence Oregon, Florence ORPacific Ocean lies Florence Oregon. A beautiful coastal city midway on the Oregon Coast. This community of about 15,000 residents is buzzing but not rushed, The picturesque streets and waterfront will delight not only your sight but your ears and the rush of the waves pound the local beaches.

Florence is home to many shops, restaurants and business establishments including department stores, specialty shops, supermarkets, medical facilities, hospitals and galleries. Florence is also home to a local community college and a winter concert series.

Oregon's second largest city of Eugene is only about an hour away if you need to get to a larger city for more hustle and bustle. Although Florence is a small town and most residential neighbors know one another, in 1993, local citizens pledged over $1 million for the multi-use Florence Events Center which was finished in August of 1996.

Florence's commercial center serves an area-wide population of about 20,000 and is accessible by highway, sea and air.  This beach and forest town has beaches stretching 25 miles along the Oregon Coast and includes driftwood, surf and breath-taking headlands. To the South is the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area which is 42 shifting miles of dunes, lakes and forest . This has quickly become of the countries most popular seaside attractions. Over 20 trails wind their way through the forests in and around Florence.

About half a mile west of Florence jetties have extended the river's mouth. Two walls of massive stones jut a quarter mile into the Pacific Ocean. As well as rivers, Florence also has over a dozen fresh water lakes which is a second home to avid boaters, swimmers and anglers from miles around.

Florence is a Beach Environment fit for Retirement.

Over 50% of the residents in Florence Oregon have chosen it as a home for their retirement years. Many of these tend to be active seniors, participating in community  singing, travel, nature clubs and volunteer work in government and social services.  Within close proximity to libraries and hospitals, Florence makes for a wonderful place to relax when you retire. Florence is also home to two challenging 18 hole golf courses, the Ocean Dunes Golf Links and the Sandpines Golf Resort.

College Town

Florence is also home to the Lane Community College where students young and old can pursue a secular education or take advantage of Lane's extensive arts program.  This school provides schooling for over 2,000 students in Florence and Mapleton.  This school and community is constantly expanding.

With cool summers and mild winters Florence is an ideal area in which to live, work and play. The average temperature in January is 44 degrees and in July about 60.
