Just a bump in the road between Swisshome and Brickerville on the highway to and from the Oregon Coast is Mapleton Oregon. Located along Oregon Route 126 in the Siuslaw National Forest and Lane County, Mapleton Oregon is home to about a thousand year round residents. This small but tight knit community is about 15 miles east of it's larger sister city of Florence.
Mapleton is likely named due to the abundance of Big Leaf Maple trees bordering the town in the Siuslaw National Forest. The Siuslaw Rivers travels along the edges of Mapleton as does the Railway stretching to the ocean. While there may not be much in Mapleton, it certainly is worth the stop for lunch or to drop your boat in at the Mapleton Boat Ramp for some salmon and steelhead fishing. There are several shops and restaurants along the Highway in Mapleton including the Gingerbread Village Restaurant. Come in for a quick treat of warm gingerbread and ice cream or stay for lunch and enjoy soup and sandwich.
Another great spot is Frank's Place for breakfast lunch or dinner. Enjoy healthy portions to get your day started or drop in for lunch with one of their world famous burgers or stay for dinner and enjoy local seafood and steaks.
Mapleton also has several local shops for those passing through and those on their new adventures in life. Enjoy an afternoon with Rose Haven Designs when planning your beach wedding or pick up a bouquet on your way home to your sweetie at the Wren's Nest flower and tea shop.
