The Oregon Coast is beautiful no matter what time of year, however winter brings many spectacular activities for you to discover.  Up and down the coast, people flock to celebrate the season with festivals, art shows and even whale watching.  So make plans to take in some of the local culture this winter and enjoy all that the Oregon Coast has to offer you!

All Along the Oregon Coast

·        Whale Watching - December 26-January 1

This is one of the best times to visit one of 24 “Whale Watching Spoken Here” sites where you can spot gray whales during their winter annual migrations.  Volunteers are on duty to help you see the animals and offer information about their migration.  Be sure to dress warmly and bring appropriate clothing for rain or shine!  Bring your binoculars so you can absorb this exhilarating experience all up close!

·        Seaside Art Walk – 1st Saturday of the Month, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Come delight in new art showings by both local and nationally-recognized artists at participating downtown Seaside galleries and shops.  Just look for the “Art Walk Stop” signs where you will find food, drinks, music and much more for you to experience!

A traditional holiday delight for both the young and young at heart!  Come see this Christmas classic ballet performed with all of the traditional dances we love and cherish.

·        Winter Folk Festival – January 21-22, 2012

Plan a visit to beautiful Florence, OR for the two-day folk music event which attracts musicians from all over the Northwest.  Thousands of visitors come to listen to traditional folk music, bluegrass and blues music, attend jam sessions with the bands, as well as shop at the local arts and crafts fair.  The Florence Events Center even offers a youth folk music competition, mule rides, pie baking contest and much, much more for you to enjoy.  So bring your family for an event you won’t want to miss!

·        Confluence Wine, Beer, Seafood & Music Festival – 2012 Dates TBA

Come have an experience like no other – this festival brings together Oregon wineries and microbreweries, as well as great bands from the Washington, Portland, Eugene, coos Bay, Reedsport and Bandon areas.  Performing an array of genres of music throughout the weekend, there is plenty to suit everyone’s favorite!
